WEEKEND DIARIES (plus some)

As I mentioned on Monday, another one of my brothers was married last week. Since the wedding was in the Poconos, we decided to go the Sunday before and make a vacation of it. My sister Liz was with us, and my parents and the rest of my siblings and their families came in gradually as the week progressed. It was a great week of fishing, swimming, catching up, and getting to know some great people (yes, Rice family, I'm talking about you).

There is so much I could tell you about, the fun little things we did like taking the kids to their second ever movie (Despicable Me 2), or catching crawdads with Uncle Luke and Aunt Sara, or feasting on bacon wrapped chicken breast stuffed with green olives and fresh mozzarella, made fresh on the grill and washed down with an ice cold Corona. Or the funny things the kids said and did, like H telling the bride's parents that I didn't have underwear on (Spanx, girl, they're called Spanx!). I'm laughing out loud. Or I could tell you about Tony and Audrey's love story, about how they dated for one week when Audrey and I were housemates years ago at Steubenville. Or about how Audrey and Tony sat up and talked with me that night six years ago when I had the realization that I was going to marry my [now] husband. Or about what amazing people they both are. But maybe another day. For now I'll leave it at a few pics.

From the top left: The kids relaxing at the Scranton Hilton post wedding/pre-reception. It was a tiring day, but they rallied to party on 'til the the break of dawn (well, almost). The lovely bride and groom cutting the cake (photo by Liz). Tony, Audrey, and V enjoying the comfortable weather and beautiful view of Lake Wallenpaupack. I forgot to pack sweatshirts for the kids (maybe because it was 100 degrees the day before we left?), so we did an "emergency" run to the Honesdale, PA Salvation Army. I happened to find these new leather sandals for $2.99. Score. And finally, it's great to get away, and it's great to get home. Our garden welcomed us back with lots of goodness.

It's kind of late in the week to make this a Weekend Diaries link up, but I'll open it up anyway, just in case.
