Yesterday was a gloomy day. The snow fell continuously and the moods around this house were as leaden as the skies. Or maybe it was just me. And the post I planned never made it to completion. One of the kids just wanted to be held, others wanted their snowsuits on, then off, then on, then off. Again. There was a child who sprinted off naked after each visit to the bathroom, like some little nudist Olympian. And the most cliched of all mom talk, I'm tired. So the post didn't happen.
We did make shortbread (with three ingredients, possibly the easiest thing ever) and have a tea party, the kids and I. And I may have cheated and drank espresso. Don't tell the Queen.
I am a December baby, and prefer cold over heat (especially Texas heat) any day of the year. I do not, however, do well without sunshine. Butter sure helps though :)
ReplyDeleteWould you like another amazing and easy recipe? 1 cup chocolate peanut butter spread + 1 cup of brown sugar + 1 egg + 1 tsp baking soda, combined, plopped in teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet, and baked at 350 for 7-9 minutes. I'm enjoying some now :)
Thanks, Sarah! We'll have to try that tomorrow!
DeleteLooks like it was a successful tea party. :)
ReplyDeletePrecious! I don't envy you your winters, but possibly your tea parties. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe days are long, but the years pass quickly... at least that's what I keep reminding myself. You really brightened up a dark day with that lovely tea party! Stay warm and enjoy your sweet baby. :)

I think you turned the day into a successful one. Pinkies up!
ReplyDeleteThe shortbread looks amazing, Mary!
