7 Quick Takes

Seven at random, here we go...

1
Has anybody heard of the Belly Bandit or postpartum belly binding? I hadn't until I happened across the topic at random this week. How is this possible? I have three kids! Anyway, ladies, hit me with your knowledge! Have you tried it? Homemade? A particular brand? Positive experience? Negative?

2
I posed a similar question on the FaceBook page yesterday. Head on over if you want to check out the great conversation it started.

3
Since I'm picking your brain today... A reader wrote in a great question about something that I struggle with a lot, so I want to hear your wisdom. Here is the question: I was wondering your thoughts on "me-time" as a wife and mother of 3 kiddos. What do you do daily/weekly/monthly/yearly that keeps you sane as a mom, wife, etc.? And, go!

A thank you to all who participated in the Thrifting Tip link up! If you haven't looked at the links, check them out for some great tips on how to thrift with success.

I've decided to host another link up in the next couple of weeks - favorite date night outfit. I don't know about you, but [out of the house] date nights are a big treat for my husband and I. Since they don't happen super frequently (three kids under four, c'est la vie), I put a lot of pressure on myself to come up with something really great and special to wear. I'm betting some other ladies out there feel the same way; let's inspire each other!

In case you missed it, I linked up yesterday with Ain't No Mom Jeans and life in mod for a rare Thursday outfit post

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope we all have warm weather to enjoy!
My cup runneth over with blessings. Personal time just doesn't happen to be one of them.

  1. Oooh, I banded the belly for the first time after baby #5 and it was great. I totally recommend it. Helps with back pain and posture and all the things.

    1. What brand did you use, Dwija?

    2. I need in on this conversation. I just heard about this and fortunately in time to actually use with a baby belly (due in August). I've heard an ace bandage works....

    3. I read that, too, about the ace bandage! Much cheaper, but less convenient? Also, did you see the suggestion on FB of the moby wrap?

    4. I binded after my #2. GLORIOUS! It seriously felt amazing. I wore mine for up to 23 hours a day (you have to take an hour break). I do have severe diastasis recti, so that's why I wore it for so long. I bought two.

This one was my favorite: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002UCES4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also had this one, which I used, just not as often:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WFT3II/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    5. I'm trying to remember why I preferred the first one I linked. I think bc it was more easily hidden under clothes. I wore it lower on my hips and it fit nicely under my jeans and my (loose) tops.

    6. Thank you for the recommendations, Emily!

  2. #3: Mornings after breakfast (usually after my four-year-old heads off on the bus), I get my me time to read my blogs. I only have my one-year-old at that point, and he's pretty happy playing alone, so it's not too hard for me. I have to close the two of us in to one part of the house so he can't get into mischief, though.
ALSO, I am a strong proponent of early bedtimes. I know these aren't for every one because a lot of people's kids don't sleep as much as mine, but I put my kids to bed at 7:00 AT THE LATEST. Then my husband and I can have grown-up time together. We're both really happy we started this habit with the kids early.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Sarah. I second the early bed time; mine go down at 7 (the youngest) and 8 (the 2.5 and 4 yr old). By that time of night I'm done!

I can't comment for some reason from my phone, but I loved your Thursday cardigan outfit...super sophisticated 70's style ;). I need to go check out your thrifting linkup--I REALLY want to learn how to get good at thrifting!
